The Humble Beginning

When I first came to England, I had a University Degree in Economics in my pocket, but due to the work restrictions at the time, I couldn’t follow a traditional career path.
So, I did what many determined people do — I put on my boots and got to work on-site.

My scaffolding journey began in 2007 briefly at JDC Scaffolding Ltd however my proper training started at Artel Scaffolding Ltd, stepping onto site as a scaffold labourer. Like many others, I started at the very bottom — learning the trade the hard way, one scaffold board at a time.

I still remember the physical grind: from struggling to carry just one board or 3 x 5-foot tubes, to pushing myself to haul seven boards or a dozen tubes at once. Day after day, I climbed ladders with buckets of fittings or lengths of steel — in the rain, under the sun, no excuses. It wasn’t easy. At times it felt inhumane, but it became my norm. And soon enough, I was setting new records and pushing past old limits.

I’m especially grateful to Matt Warner, who constantly challenged me to go beyond what I thought were my limits. His drive and work ethic left a mark on me, and his belief in pushing boundaries helped shape my own approach to work and growth.

Looking back, those early days taught me more than just muscle memory — they built my mindset. I learned that reliability isn't optional. That a ‘can do’ attitude opens doors. And that, no matter how tough things get, there’s always a solution if you're willing to work for it.

Building Knowledge and Experience After five solid years on the tools — gaining hands-on experience and completing my training all the way from Part 1 up to the Advanced Scaffolder ticket — I felt ready for the next challenge. That opportunity came at Alandale Scaffolding Ltd , where I stepped into the role of Foreman and Site Supervisor.

This was the peak of my on-site scaffolding career, and it opened up an entirely new side of the industry. I began to understand the bigger picture: project planning, logistics, people management, and the importance of keeping everything running safely and smoothly. It wasn’t just about lifting and fixing — it was about coordinating teams, resolving site challenges, and staying one step ahead.

But during that time, I also began to notice something that didn’t sit right with me — the design drawings we received often didn’t reflect the practical reality on-site. I found myself thinking: “There’s got to be a better way to do this.” That thought kept growing, and eventually, it became a decision:

I would learn scaffold design myself — and I’d do it better.

— Founding Alpha Scaffold Design The Turning Point The decision to move into scaffold design wasn’t just a career move — it was a personal mission. But making that transition wasn’t easy.

I was still working full-time on-site, and at the same time, I was preparing for one of the biggest moments in my life — the arrival of my baby daughter. There was no room for shortcuts. Every night, every weekend, every spare moment I could find was dedicated to studying. While others rested, I opened my books. While my body was tired from the day’s work, my mind pushed forward.
What sets us apart: At Alpha Scaffold Design Ltd, we blend real-world scaffolding experience with advanced engineering expertise to deliver practical, reliable, and safe scaffold designs. Our first hand knowledge of on-site challenges informs every drawing and calculation, ensuring solutions that work seamlessly in the field. The man behind the scene   Discover

I enrolled in university and began studying for a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, all while juggling work, family, and life’s daily demands.
Eventually, those long hours paid off. I earned my degree, that’s when I founded Alpha Scaffold Design Ltd — not just as a business, my aim was simple: to create designs that actually work in practice, not just on paper.
